Job Description

Reporting to the Assistant Head of the Upper School, the Theatre Manager is responsible 
for the smooth management, operation and maintenance of the School’s theatre and other 
presentation spaces. 
The Centre For Creative Learning houses a state of the art 350 seat theatre. Uses include: 
plays and musicals, music, concerts, assemblies, presentations and other formal or 
informal events for both internal and external clients. This is a September to July full 
time position. The salary range has been adjusted to reflect varied hours, evening and 
week-end events. 
• Liaises closely with key stake-holders both internal and external. Examples are 
drama production leaders/drama department, music department teachers, Heads 
and Assistant Heads of Divisions, Calendar and Event Coordinator, Rental 
Coordinator and leaders of external events, etc.
• Leadership and operation of technology to provide audio, video, and lighting for 
an event. This position is also responsible for set design and construction.
• Maintains an inventory of equipment and a useage log. Proactively plans life 
cycles for equipment, technology, lights, audio, seating and lobby replacement or 
• Develops and reviews Risk Assessment wherever appropriate and communicates 
updated safety news to all concerned. Ensures that all actions prescribed by a risk 
assessment are implemented and maintained.• Maintains the shop and storage rooms in a neat and orderly fashion.
• Manages the theatre budget and expenditures.
• Teaches theatre technology to Middle and Upper School students.
• Must be able to work long and irregular hours including evenings, weekends and 
long weekends if required.
• Post secondary degree/diploma in Theatre Arts (Technical Production) or 
comparable qualifications.
• Minimum 2 years’ directly related experience.
• Must have working knowledge of industry standards and safety guidelines, 
Ontario Health and Safety Act, Ontario Fire Code and Ontario Electrical Safety 
• Should have working knowledge of industry software including but not limited to 
Auto Cad and/or Micro Station.
